The problem of high temperature of excavator engine is repeated? It is the source

A Komatsu excavator owner's pc220-8 excavator has been unable to solve the high temperature problem of the engine, and the high temperature phenomenon is repeated. Today, I will explain to you that the high temperature problem of the excavator engine caused by the "engine respirator" is repeated

There are tens of thousands of parts and components in the excavator. Only when these parts and components are accurately matched can the machine overcome difficult working conditions with full momentum. Today, I will share with you a relatively unpopular but very important part: engine breather

When you hear this name, you may not know which part of the engine it is, and of course you do not know what role it plays

Comprehensive understanding of respirators

Although many people are slightly unfamiliar with respirators, if we talk about exhaust, we must have heard of it In fact, the lower exhaust comes out of the engine through this respirator, so that we can know where this thing is and what it looks like

High temperature problem of excavator engine

Well, let's learn about this little thing from the following four points today

A. What does it look like?

B. Where is it in the engine?

C. What does it do?

D. What can happen to it and what will be the impact on the engine?

Where is it in the engine?

There are usually three positions for respirators: each position has its own advantages and disadvantages

1. Located at the bottom of the crankcase, it has the advantages of small exhaust resistance, but the disadvantages are large oil consumption and high exhaust temperature, which are easily misunderstood as "burning engine oil"

2. It is located on the top of the valve cover. The advantages are good oil return effect and low oil consumption. The disadvantages are that it occupies a large space and needs a long drain pipe

3. It is directly connected with the intake pipe. The advantages are environmental protection and small space occupied by the internal passage. The disadvantages are that the engine oil is consumed and burned

What does it do?

1. Maintain the pressure balance in the crankcase and ensure breathing

Strictly speaking, the interior of the engine is sealed. However, due to the operation of the engine, the high temperature in the crankcase, the inevitable movement of the piston, air leakage and other reasons, there is gas in the crankcase that needs to be discharged. Of course, the movement of the internal piston also needs gas inflow. Otherwise, the engine cannot be moved in an absolutely sealed environment

2. Oil gas separation

Since the crankcase is filled with high-pressure and high-temperature gas, the high-temperature oil vapor is also mixed in these gases, and is often discharged from the engine along with the lower exhaust gas. Since there is a metal mesh or spacer in the breather, the vaporized oil in the lower exhaust gas flows back to the engine after being cooled by the mesh / spacer

3. The exhaust gas can be used as an important basis to judge the internal wear and combustion of the engine

Under normal conditions, the color of the lower exhaust gas is very light. It is basically invisible when the external temperature is low in winter. If the lower exhaust gas is very thick and large, the fault and wear degree of the engine can be determined through instrument detection

What can happen to it

In general, it is rare for this respirator to be broken, unless it is broken by external force

However, this part has been working for a long time. There is an internal oil condensation method of metal mesh, which is easy to be blocked by external dust. Although it will not be blocked, it will lead to high internal pressure of the crankcase and high temperature of the engine I once saw a case on the Internet that the driver mistakenly blocked the pipe orifice of the respirator with a rag, resulting in oil leakage of the crankshaft oil seal due to the pressure rise in the crankcase after the engine was high temperature. In this case, if the crankshaft oil seal does not leak, it may cause cracks in the cylinder block

That's all for the introduction of this respirator. How about it? Do you think that knowledge has increased? The next issue will continue to bring you up to knowledge!
