Milling Drum-the Core And Soul Of The Milling Machine

Jul 31, 2020

Milling drum for small milling machine

The small milling machine has greater mobility and flexibility, and can be used for small area milling and precise milling of narrow areas. Small milling machines are generally equipped with wheeled crawlers, and the milling drum is located behind the machine.

Milling width <130 cm

Compact size and low shipping weight

Minimum milling radius, suitable for milling around obstacles, sharp turns and road equipment

Milling drum for large milling machine

The large-scale milling machine has high milling ability and is very suitable for large-area road repair operations. Large milling machines are generally equipped with crawler devices, and the milling drum is located between the crawler units.

Milling width> 130 cm

Engine> 250 kW

Due to the high milling capacity of large milling machines, construction projects can be completed faster, thereby reducing traffic jam time.

The front row material can transport the milling material more efficiently from the machine, thus ensuring the smooth progress of the milling process.

Recycling machine and soil stabilizer

The role of the milling drum of the reclaimer and soil stabilizer is to mix the material as evenly as possible.

Compared with the road milling machine, the discharge belt cannot be used to transport the milling material, so there is no spiral on the milling drum. In order to obtain the best mixing effect, the base of the tool holder is welded to the drum body of the milling drum.

Milling drum for surface mining machine

Surface mining machine milling drums are used in extremely harsh conditions.

It is designed on the basis of the road milling drum, with well-designed cutters, cutter holders and larger cutter spacing.

Maintenance and maintenance of milling drum

Milling rotor cleaning

Please note: When milling different materials, the milling material may stick to the milling rotor. This will affect the rotation of the cutter head and ultimately result in the need to spend a lot of money to replace (repair) the cutter head and the cutter seat.

In this case, we recommend installing a high-pressure cleaning device on the machine and cleaning it after the work is completed every day. Then you need to check the rotation of the cutter head, the degree of wear of the cutter seat, and visually check the tension of the lower part of the cutter seat.

Maintenance of lower tool holder

The impact force that occurs during the cutting process causes the contact surface of the lower part of the tool holder to bear high loads. If a sufficiently high torque (500 N?m) cannot be applied to the fastening bolt, the wear and deformation load of the lower contact surface will continue to increase. In this case, every time the tool holder performs cutting, it will hit the lower part of the tool holder like a hammer. The resulting deformation will significantly shorten the service life of the tool holder.

If you do not pay attention to avoiding contamination of the milling material at the base tool holder hole when replacing the tool holder, it will shorten the service life.

Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that the knife holder is installed in the base in a safe and clean manner at all times, and there must be no deposits in the base hole.
