The Slow Action Of The Caterpillar Excavator May Be Caused By The Pump Failure And The Insufficient Oil Supply Of The Hydraulic Pump!

Apr 23, 2020

What is the reason for the slow movement of the excavator? What should the driver do when the excavator is slow? What I will talk about today is the analysis and maintenance of the slow movement of the Carter excavator. The model is Cat 345D.

Details: The Caterpillar 345D excavator performs excavation operations in the mountain area. It has not been overhauled before and has been maintained regularly. In the past few days, the excavator has been operated after operating the joystick. The excavator has been used for more than 5,800 hours.

Analysis:

Analysis of the slow motion of Carter 345D excavator:

1. The leakage of the hydraulic pump of the excavator causes the pump's oil supply to decrease. Generally, when the use time exceeds 5000 hours, the volumetric efficiency of the pump will decrease, which may cause a decrease in the oil supply.

2. The resistance of the liquid flow in the suction pipe of the pump is too large. The oil pipe is too long, the suction pipe turns too much, the suction pipe turning angle is too small, etc. may be caused.

Carter 345D excavator has a slow movement and insufficient pump oil supply On-site maintenance:

Test the machine at the construction site to confirm the fault phenomenon. Check whether the suction pipe of the excavator pump is blocked or whether the suction pipe sucks oil smoothly.

Clean the filter of the Carter excavator, and ensure that the oil is not contaminated. Check whether the oil used by the excavator meets the standard requirements.

Use oil with appropriate viscosity. Finally, start the excavator to operate the joystick to check whether the high temperature phenomenon is accompanied by slow excavator movement. Generally, the oil temperature is best at 50-80 degrees Celsius. The high temperature causes the pump leakage to increase and the oil discharge is insufficient, causing slow motion.

The final diagnosis after the above inspection is due to the high temperature causing the pump to leak, and the pump needs to be disassembled for inspection.
