How To Troubleshoot The Heavy Steering Problem Of Small Loaders

Jan 28, 2024

Let me tell you about the problem that the direction becomes heavy when the small loader turns. How to solve and eliminate it? Let me tell you about it below.

Small loaders adopt a flow amplification steering system, which consists of a priority flow amplification valve and a fully hydraulic steering gear. There are two situations of heavy steering, one is heavy steering, and the other is flexible steering, and the entire machine has heavy steering.

Due to the failure of the pilot system, the steering wheel rotates heavily. Check the pilot system pressure, pipe connections and pipe joints for problems.

The steering wheel turns flexibly, but the entire machine turns heavily. This is usually caused by a fault in the steering system. Check whether there are any problems with pipe connections, oil suction pipes, steering system pressure, oil cylinders, etc.
How to troubleshoot the heavy steering problem of small loaders
Before measuring and adjusting the system pressure, park the entire machine on a flat ground, lower the boom, level the bucket, and turn off the engine to ensure safety. Before measuring the pilot pressure, place the boom in a lower position and the bucket receives a larger bucket angle position. Before measuring the steering pressure, remove the ejector rod for the hydraulic limiter.

Normal guide pressure is as follows: not less than 2.2 at engine idle speed. MPa, high-speed throttle not exceeding 5MPa.

When measuring the steering pressure, the car must be turned to a large turning angle, in a mechanical limit state, and the steering wheel is in a steering state. When the engine is at high speed, the pressure of the steering system reaches 15MPa.

If the above two measured pressures do not meet the specified values, they need to be readjusted. To adjust the pilot pressure is to adjust the relief valve at the rear of the double pump. Steering pressure is at the end of the priority flow amplifier valve.

Check whether the pipe connections are correct. This situation mainly affects classic cars. It is necessary to focus on checking whether the pilot pump oil return and limit valve oil return pipelines are connected correctly. If the oil return pipeline is connected incorrectly, it can easily lead to an increase in back pressure and heavy operating force. In addition, the oil suction pipe should also be checked for air intake and oil leakage.

Check whether the pipe joints are blocked. If the pipes or joints are blocked by dirt, it will easily cause the back pressure to increase and the operating force will be heavy.

Check whether there is any leakage inside the cylinder, lower the piston of the steering cylinder to the bottom, remove the oil pipe in the rodless cavity, and continue to fill the rod cavity with oil. If there is more oil leakage from the oil port of the rodless cavity, it means that the piston sealing ring has been damaged and should be replaced. If the cylinder leaks, the pressure in the steering system will generally be low and the steering will be weak.
