It was found that the cause of frequent replacement of engine cylinder liner was that the user had never changed the water filter in two years using the machine and did not use softened water according to the requirement, thus causing serious cavitation of cylinder liner.


The function of water filter is to prevent cavitation of cylinder liner and scale of water system. When the circulating cooling water flows in the water path, many bubbles will be produced. When these bubbles pass through the outer wall of the cylinder sleeve, the bubbles will expand rapidly and break up because of the high temperature of the cylinder liner. When the bubble breaks, it will generate explosive force. The breaking force of infinite bubbles will peel the surface metal of the outer wall of the cylinder liner and expose the inner metal. The water often contains hydrogen ions, which will form acidic substances, which are spalling off the outer wall of the cylinder liner. This repeated action will make the outer wall of the cylinder the hole in the shape of a point. As the time of use increases, the cave will become more and more large, and the light will affect the strength of the cylinder liner.


At the same time, because the circulating water also contains calcium, magnesium and barium ions, these ions are the main substance of forming scale. Scale is attached to the outer wall of the cylinder liner and the combustion chamber, which affects heat conduction, so that the heat of the combustion chamber is difficult to transmit to the cooling water. So from the water temperature table, the temperature of the water is not high, but the actual temperature of the parts is very high, so that the life of the parts is greatly reduced, and will even die because of the overheating of the parts and the excessive expansion of the parts.
