Installation And Adjustment Of Accelerator Brake Of Kato Excavator

Jul 10, 2020

Install the accelerator brake of the Kato excavator as shown in Figure 2-13.

1

(1) Precautions when installing the accelerator brake

① The winding direction of the accelerator cable on the pulley should be changed according to the type of machine, because there are two specified installation methods for the accelerator brake. When replacing accelerator brakes, compatible replacement parts should be prepared.

[note]

Use compatible accelerator brakes. If incompatible accessories are used, the APC100 system will not work properly and the motor may be burned out.

② When connecting the accelerator brake cable, the starter switch must be in the "OFF" position and the engine must be stopped.

If the starter switch is in the "ON" position, the time to adjust the accelerator brake will increase

(2) Install the pulley to the engine oil injection spring

Install the pulley to the regulator lever on the engine fuel injection pump, as shown in Figure 2-14, with the arrow on the pulley pointing upward.

2

(3) Install the accelerator brake

As shown in Figure 2-15, install the accelerator brake on the clamping plate with the drain hose down.

(4) Adjust the high idle speed position of the pulley

Turn the pulley counterclockwise until the regulator lever stops at the high idle position. Install the pulley in the high idle position through the roller hook, as shown in Figure 2-16

3

(5) Install the wire at the accelerator end to the pulley and fix the pulley at the high idle position

As shown in Figure 2-17. Install the wire on the accelerator end into the wire groove on the fuel injection pump.

(6) Fixed accelerator wire

As shown in Figure 2-18

4

① Tighten the cable clamp plate at the accelerator end. Pay attention to adjust the cable so that it is not too loose or too tight, you can pull the cable diagonally

②Remove the fixed roller hook of the pulley. If the pulley rewinds in the direction of low idle speed, turn the tension adjustment nut to the position of the adjustment pulley until the adjuster lever slightly touches the stopper. Then turn the tension adjusting nut one turn to increase the tension of the cable, and then tighten the lock nut to the specified torque of 333N·m. This fixes the cable to the clamping plate.

[Caution] When installing the cable at the accelerator end, do not make the tension too large, so as not to over-tighten the following danger

①When controlled by the accelerator (the accelerator standby switch UP/DOWN is in the manual position), the drive motor is overrun due to excessive tension and burns out

② Even if the APC100 system is normal, the engine speed control function cannot work because of excessive tension

(7) Install the engine stop cable

(As shown in Figure 2-19).

Install the engine stop wire to the specified point of the pulley. Then, pull the wire from the engine stop end to the accelerator end wire

The opposite direction is coiled on the pulley.

(8) Fix the cable at the engine stop end (as shown in Figure 220).

5

Pull the wire at the end of the engine until the wire is no longer slack and install it on the clamping plate. Pay attention to adjust the cable to ensure that the cable is not too loose or too tight, so that the diagonal cable is free.

Loosen the adjustment nut for one and a half turns, and then tighten the lock nut with the specified tightening torque, fix the pull wire to the clamping plate, and install the engine stop end pull wire with appropriate tension. If the tension is incorrect, the following will occur

① The cable is too tight. At the low idle position (on the accelerator knob), the engine will not turn or the engine will stop. ② If the tension is not enough, the engine will not stop.
